It Isn't (Yet) A Moneymaker: The only way anyone is getting rich from Facebook apps right now is by selling them off to companies so desperate for a shot of Web 2.0 pixie dust that they'll risk vastly overpaying - a lesson investors learned the expensive way in the dot-com bust, but seem to be forgetting already. MySpace parent Fox Interactive spent a reported $250 million in May to pick up photo and multimedia file host Photobucket, which relies on ads to subsidize its free service.
For those looking for a faster monetization and exit strategy, there's always eBay. Facebook application Logbook, which lets users document what books they're reading and movies they're watching, auctioned itself off this week for $2,550.
