There are 100 edge computing companies at the forefront of the booming market that is expected to generate a whopping $260 billion in revenue this year with AI taking center stage.
CRN reviewed the global edge landscape to identify 50 companies leading the hardware, software and services charge; 25 firms cybersecurity all-stars innovating at the edge; and 25 companies paving the edge computing highway for the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G industries.
IT market research firm IDC estimates worldwide spending on edge computing to reach $260 billion in 2025 and expand to $380 billion in sales by 2028.
“Edge computing is poised to redefine how businesses leverage real-time data, and its future hinges on tailored, industry-specific solutions that address unique operational demands,” said David McCarthy, research vice president for Cloud and Edge Services at IDC in a statement.
The 100 companies that made CRN’s 2025 Edge Computing 100 list are leading on both the product innovation and sales front, helping organizations of all sizes drive edge adoption.
The edge software and hardware innovators include tech giants like Amazon Web Services, Cisco, Dell Technologies, Equinix and Nvidia, as well as edge specialists like Scale Computing and Hailo Technologies.
The cybersecurity firms leading the way range from Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet to F5 and Menlo Security. On the IoT and 5G front, there are behemoths like AT&T and T-Mobile alongside innovators like Edge Impulse and EdgeQ.
