Talk about a rough morning: Earlier this month opening day of CES 2011 was marred by a sulfuric acid spill in front of the Wynn hotel and casino that closed Las Vegas Boulevard in both directions for several hours. According to The Las Vegas Sun, around 200 gallons of the corrosive liquid, which was intended for some unspecified use with Wynn's water show, leaked from a broken pipe outside the hotel. Needless to say, the spill made getting to CES meetings on time even more difficult than normal.
Oh Samsung, you did it again: visitors to the Korean electronics giant's CES booth were asked not to take photos of the company's new line of notebooks and new tablets like the Series 7, although photos of the flat panel televisions, 3D camcorders and Galaxy Tabs on display were apparently OK. While we were told that press members were permitted to take photos of all products, and that the photography ban was only for non-journalists, some of the booth security folks were a little overzealous in their approach.
Samsung did the same thing last year, although to its credit, this year's entreaties were deliver much more politely than last year, when knuckle-dragging goons were observed following and verbally harassing booth visitors. And the manufacturer did provide an excellent booth tour with full press access once the "misunderstanding" was resolved. So for next year's CES, ShadowRAM suggests making sure the folks at Samsung's booth can see your press badges
