With more than a million downloads a month for 14 months, QR Droid by DroidLa is clearly something that a good many Android users find themselves needing. But why?

If you've ever wondered about those funny-looking QR codes that seem to be popping up on posters, products and peridicals everywhere, then it makes sense that so many people need a tool for getting a quick response (QR, get it?) to information requests.

QR Droid uses an Android device's camera to scan the QR code and links immediately to the corresponding Web-based content using its own built-in previewer. QR Droid also can create QR codes from a device's contact database for transferring contacts, links, videos and other information from person to person. The app is simple to use, as this QR Droid video demonstrates. This useful free tool is supported by ads, which can be removed by making a donation.
