The Daily App, Divide

For IT departments, giving in to the "bring-your-own-device" craze is a two-edged sword. On the plus side, people can be more productive when using their own smartphone or tablet at work, and they are more likely to work during off hours as well. But, separating corporate data and keeping it secure can be a challenge. Addressing that challenge is Divide, a free app for Android and iOS from BYOD solutions developer Enterproid. This simple and ingenious app “divides” work and home aspects of life onto two separate screens with the click of a button.

Divide creates separate business and personal profiles and stores them on an encrypted and cloud-manageable workspace, and it can switch between the two profiles in an instant. Divide provides the ability to sync email, contacts and calendar events securely with Exchange, Lotus Notes or Gmail, and it optionally sets a separate screen lock around that data to provide extra security. IT will also appreciate the ability to track device usage, locate lost devices and remotely wipe corporate data.
