The Daily App, Hotspot Shield

Security-conscious individuals who find themselves using unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots should take time to consider today’s Daily App. Hotspot Shield, from security app developer AnchorFree, provides a virtual private network (VPN) for Android and iOS when connecting to any public or private hotspot.

If your company doesn't provide a VPN, then Hotspot Shield will make all internet activity completely private by masking the real WAN IP of mobile devices.

Running the high-speed proxy encryption service is effortless. There's no need for login credentials or server location specifications; it simply runs once it’s been launched. If privacy is not a concern, Hotspot Shield could still be considered for its malware protection and bandwidth compression. It increases browsing speed, which in turn lowers data usage, and also produces a report showing how much data usage it saves.

Hotspot Shield is free for the first seven days, and it then costs $0.99 per month or $9.99 per year.
