It's easy enough to remember that Ctrl+C will copy highlighted text. But, remembering all 1,600 Microsoft Office hotkeys could be a challenge. KeyRocket is a free .NET applet that helps improve productivity by sending pop-up notifications of applicable keyboard shortcuts right when they're needed. According to German start-up developer Veodin,keyboard shortcuts cut two seconds per mouse-click -- that’s six days a year. Who hasn't wished there were more hours in the day?
KeyRocket works when a mouse has clicked on, for example, a drop-down box to create a new folder. KeyRocket will notice the action and provide a bubble with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N. For those who use hotkeys often, this could become a useful time-saver, especially for learning new unfamiliar shortcuts. KeyRocket also generates a report, providing a chart of the learned and common shortcuts and improvements. A supported version is available for $5 a month, or $60 a year for a perpetual license.
KeyRocket currently supports Microsoft Outlook, Office versions 2003 through 2013 and all versions of Windows. Veodin also makes KeyRocket for Gmail, a free Chrome extension that shows shortcut notifications when composing, reading and managing emails.
