Today's Daily App turns the employee-owned device from a corporate invader into two sides of the same coin. AT&T Toggle is an app and backend management system for Android and iOS devices that enable enterprises to separate personal data on an employee's device from corporate applications, data and communications, providing a simple BYOD strategy for IT administrators.
Toggle supports all major carriers, even though it's developed and sold exclusively through AT&T. The app presents an encrypted workspace that looks and feels like any smartphone, but it only allows access to corporate email and approved corporate applications and calendars, just as it would on a company-provided device. All data and communications are protected and can be configured to comply with any corporate policies. Phones can be remotely wiped if the device is lost, stolen or the employee leaves the company. Personal apps and data are untouched and function normally when Toggle is exited.
Toggle doesn't use virtualization; it's implemented as a native app on iOS 5.0 and iOS 6.0, as well as Android 2.2 and Android 3.0, and a version for Android 4.0 is in the works. AT&T Toggle costs $6.50 per device per month plus a one-time setup fee of $750.
