With Hurricane Sandy’s massive impact on the East Coast many people will be looking for post disaster relief and assistance., Tand those who have n'ot been impacted may want to consider learning about disaster preparation. The Federal Emergency Management Agency offers FEMA for Android, Blackberry and iOS, is a free disaster management app that can help provide information for those struggling to coperegarding both of these issues.
DFEMA was developed by it’s namesake agency, theacronym the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a tool that uses interactive lists to show emergency kit and emergency meeting location information, a map with open shelters and open FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs). The two most important aspects of FEMA are the “Are You Prepared?” and “Are you a disaster survivor?” tabs. The first tab consists of step-by-step disaster safety tips and guides that explain how to build an emergency kit depending on the disaster such as a flood, fire or hurricane. The second tab provides a link to “apply for assistance” on the FEMA website or by phone. This tab also has a “recovery assistance” information list that includes information such as how to cope with disasters and helping pets in disasters.
If you are among the lucky individuals who were not affected by the storm, or you would simply like to help, there’s a “Get involved” tab where volunteer services and ways to donate are listed.
