The Daily App, Storage Analyser

Despite all the talk and marketing buzz about multitasking these days, we almost never look for an app that does more than one task. Storage Analyser, from independent German developer LeveloKment (hence the British spelling), has exactly one trick, and that trick is honed to a fine edge. It's all in the name, really. Storage Analyser is an Android app that peeks into a device's internal storage or SD card and gives a detailed look at what is chewing up your bytes (pun so very intended).

The UI follows Google's Holo scheme, meaning it's Tron-inspired, functional and quite handsome. The app loaded quickly on the tablets and phones it was tested on, and it was extremely responsive, working a hair more quickly than expected. Storage Analyser drills down into Android's file system and allows the user to open any files that they find, which is a useful feature for quickly assessing just how many photos and videos are too many. Storage Analyser will also show how much storage space a given app takes up.

Importantly, Storage Analyser allows you to copy/paste and cut and delete files en masse. This leaves the app well positioned to declutter your Android phone or tablet. Storage Analyser is free in Google Play and offers a powerful toolset aimed squarely at solving one problem.
