The Daily App: Task Hammer For Android

The Daily App, TaskHammer

To-do lists are satisfying. Be they important tasks or shopping items, ticking them off one by one provides a sense of accomplishment. While white boards often suit to-do lists just fine, today's Daily App will fit in your pocket better. Task Hammer, a free Android app from independent developer MDJ Software is one such app, but with an important twist. Task Hammer creates a character that will "level up" as to-do items are completed.

It works like so: Say there's a meeting in the morning. Pop in the date, the time and maybe who the meeting is with. But, Task Hammer adds another layer. It asks for two more classifications. First, is the task low, medium or high priority? Second, does the task contribute to your strength, vitality, intelligence, perseverance or charisma? That's right -- Task Hammer turns your life into a role playing game. When you check off a task as completed, a bar fills in the corresponding statistic. Fill it all the way to level up.

Then what? Well, nothing actually, and that's the problem with Task Hammer. There's no game to play the character in, so at the end of the day, all Task Hammer does is add a layer of complexity to your to-do list. Leveling up in a game is only fun because it makes the character stronger. But, to-do lists are rewarding in their own right. Call us old-fashioned, but it's enough to simply get things done.
