These two speed tests on the iPhone were taken in the same location by switching between AT&T's earlier and slower EDGE (E) system and its subsequent faster 3G channel. Although speed varies based on how many users are online, this 3G example was nearly 11 times faster than EDGE that particular day on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
