Virtualization and Data Protection: Ensuring Data Availability in a Changing World

By Joseph F. Kovar, CRN
March 07, 2011    11:10 AM ET

Virtualization is fast becoming the major factor in the evolution of IT for SMBs, and for good reason. Virtualization promises to reduce the costs and improve the flexibility of IT infrastructures by replacing physical servers and desktop PCs with easily-created and easily-moved virtual versions. Yet while those devices have changed from physical to virtual, the need to protect their data has not lessened. Indeed, the job of protecting data in virtualized environments has gotten more complex, forcing SMBs and their solution providers to rethink their backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.

Join CRN Senior Editor Joseph Kovar to explore the changing data protection needs of the new virtualized IT infrastructures and what is required to ensure continued uptime in an environment which is increasingly more simple and complex at the same time. Joe’s special guests will be Izzy Azeri and Seth Goodling from Acronis.
