Unisys Hands Biometrics Vendor $1.2M Contract

The program's objective is to develop integrated biometric systems for physical access control, border-crossing security and authentication for computer and network logons. Identix research scientists will use the funding to determine whether using 3D facial geometry algorithms improves the accuracy of facial recognition beyond what has been achieved with 2D approaches.

Roughly $350,000 of the $1.2 million awarded was recognized by Identix as revenue in its fiscal 2003 year, ended June 30. The rest is expected to be recognized by Identix in its fiscal 2004 first and second quarters.
