Army Awards Multimillion-Dollar IT Contracts

"We are charged with providing the technology necessary to support the Army's goal of an enterprisewide architecture. It is a great responsibility and one which we are enthusiastic about fulfilling," says Terri Allen, senior vice president of sales at GTSI. The contract is part of the high-profile Army Knowledge Management transformation plan aimed at moving the Army to a net-centric knowledge-based force.

Specifically, the four "indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity" (IDIQ) contracts were given by The Information Technology E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center in conjunction with the Army Small Computer Program.

"The purpose of [the contracts] is to support the Army enterprise infrastructure and infrastructure goals with information IT equipment," the Army spokesman explains.

That comprises commercial servers, workstations, managed platforms, storage systems, network equipment and related products -- and related services -- installation, equipment maintenance, site survey, system configuration and integration, image loading, data migration, asset tracking, and potentially and legacy equipment maintenance.
