Federal Deal Tech Data announced a new finance program in Q4 2001 to help VARs that sell into the federal government bid on larger projects than their credit lines would otherwise allow, according to Mike Zava, vice president of U.S. credit services at Tech Data, Clearwater, Fla. Many of the resellers interested in and qualified to perform federal government work don't have the capitalization they need to fulfill large government contracts. Under this program, Tech Data worked out an exclusive deal with Transamerica that would base approval primarily on the strength of the particular contract.
