Westcon Parent Terminates Landis Group Acquisition

Big Days For Bell Microproducts
San Jose, Calif.-based distributor Bell Microproducts has made several announcements of late. Most recently, the company announced Hewlett-Packard had tapped its Latin American operation to distribute and support HP's mobile products, printing and imaging products, storage products and business solutions in Central America, the Caribbean and Miami's export market. Separately, Bell also announced two new appointments: Jerry Kagele, a former Avnet executive, is heading the newly reorganized Computer Products division, while Hank O'Hara has joined as head of the Semiconductor Marketing group.

Loqware Names D&H National Distributor
Loqware Technologies, the Gothenberg, Sweden-based manufacturer of biometrically secured hard-disk drive LoqDrive 250 SPR, has tapped D&H Distributing as its national distributor. D&H, based in Harrisburg, Pa., is one of the largest wholesale distributors of consumer electronics, and microcomputer, educational and security products. The company will distribute Loqware products to all customer segments, with a specific focus on corporate and government markets.

Avnet Taps Imation Storage Services Group
Avnet Computer Marketing, a value-added distributor of enterprise computing systems, software, storage, network and services, has teamed up with Imation's professional services group. Imation will supply storage network consulting expertise and testing services as part of the deal. The partnership allows Avnet Computer Marketing to expand its enterprise storage offerings for its VARs and channel partners. Avnet will also receive storage consulting from Imation, including storage assessment, design, implementation, custom training, and proof-of-concept and validation-testing services.

Cannone Joins AAI As President Asian Atlantic Industries (AAI), a leading global independent distributor based in Stratham, N.H., has appointed Peter Cannone as president of AAI's distribution. Cannone, who spent two-and-one-half years at PC Connection, has 14 years of senior management experience with domestic and international technology leaders, including Merisel, MicroWarehouse, Necx and Xerox. He will oversee all of AAI's distribution operations, focusing on efficiency and profitability through strategy development and expansion of AAI's business model.

Media Sciences Inks Deal With Tech Data
Media Sciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cadapult Graphic Systems and a leading independent manufacturer of supplies for workgroup printers, has announced that Tech Data has agreed to distribute its color workgroup-printer supplies to its network of 100,000 resellers. Tech Data, based in Clearwater, Fla., will offer the products through its strategic supplies and accessories specialized business unit, giving resellers convenient access to Media Sciences' solid-ink and color-toner products. Media Sciences, based in Allendale, N.J., is the only independent manufacturer of solid-ink sticks and color-toner cartridges for color workgroup printers.
