GovernmentVAR Product of the Week: Microvision ROV Scanner

Microvision, a developer of scanned light beam technology, has announced a Bluetooth-enabled laser bar code scanner specifically suited for the needs of mobile workers. Running on AAA batteries, the pocket-sized ROV Scanner incorporates the company's Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) scanning mirror technology; the mirror vibrates very quickly, scanning a laser across the barcode quickly enough to draw high-resolution images.

The scanner offers point and scan capability with rubberized grip points for easy handling, and a broad range of bar-code symbol decodes and memory for up to 4,000 scans. Connectivity software for all major mobile computing platforms is available, offering users complete mobile data capture solutions.

Microvision expects to release the ROV Scanner in the company's third fiscal quarter of 2007. Pricing is not yet available.
