Stressing The Importance Of SMB Backup

IOMEGA REV DRIVE
Iomega's new REV drive offers hard-disk performance up to eight times faster than tape. The disk-based REV cartridges hold 35 Gbytes of uncompressed data and up to 90 Gbytes of compressed data. The REV drive's maximum native transfer rate is 25 Mbytes, with an average file access time of 13 milliseconds.

The USB 2.0 REV drive is available as an internal drive or an external drive with different interfaces. The drive measures 4.25 x 1.25 x 6 inches and weighs only 14 ounces.

The REV drive cartridges contain only disk platters and a reliable motor. All delicate electronics are housed in the drive unit itself. If a REV drive fails, the data on a REV cartridge can be read from another drive.

The external USB 2.0 REV drive costs about $400 and includes one 35-Gbyte cartridge. Additional cartridges cost about $60 each. Iomega's Automatic Backup Pro, Norton Ghost for PC and Dantz Retrospect for Mac software are included.
