President George W. Bush has announced the nomination of Lurita Alexis Doan for the position of GSA administrator. If approved by the Senate, Doan will replace David Bibb, who has served as acting GSA administrator since Stephen Perry left the post in October 2005.
Given that the GSA recently went through a major reorganization, Doan, if appointed, will be charged with stabilizing and reinvigorating the administration, and appealing to an arguably disenchanted customer base.
Most recently, Doan was president and CEO of Reston, Va.-based New Technology Management, a surveillance-technology company she founded. In that role, she received the GSA Circle of Excellence Award and the Department of Commerce's Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation.
