General Dynamics' C4 unit, an IT integration arm of General Dynamics, will provide contractor support and engineering services for the U.S. Army's Command Post of the Future (CPOF). Earlier this week, the solution provider won the contract, which initially is worth $18.4 million, but has a potential value of $200 million over the next five years.

General Dynamics' C4 unit will aid in CPOF's goal of facilitating collaboration between superiors and subordinates, as well as subordinates and peers. CPOF is executive-level decision support system and is part of the Army's Battle Command System. The real-time system assists commanders and their staffs in planning and executing operations over tactical networks located around the world. According to the company, the tool suite uses the integrator's CoMotion technology, which supports visualization, information analysis and collaboration in a single, integrated environment.
