Obama Pick For CIO Not Target Of FBI Raid: Spokesperson

Before Obama's selection of Kundra as CIO last week, he was the District of Columbia's chief technology officer. The FBI raided the District's CTO offices and arrested an employee, Yusuf Acar, 40, and another man, Sushil Bansal, 41. Although the FBI has not made the nature of the charges known, The Washington Post reported the two were charged with bribery. The U.S. Attorney's Office said the case "is under seal."

Acar describes himself as the agency's chief security officer in a video posted on its Web site.

Bansal was formerly a District of Columbia government employee who heads Advanced Integrated Technologies Corp., a technology firm that has won contracts from the District's technology office. For example, in September, AITC announced that the Office of the Chief Technology Officer awarded a .Net Development Support Contract to AITC.

In August, Bansal was selected as Entrepreneur of the Year by the Washington, D.C., Chapter of the Association of Indians in America.

Mafara Hobson, a spokeswoman for Washington, D.C., Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, said Kundra is not a target of the investigation, Reuters reported. The White House declined to comment, the news service said.
