Expanding its global footprint, virtualization management provider Embotics has launched a partner program for solution partners in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

By signing up with the Embotics Partner Program, Embotics Value Added Resellers (EVARs), Embotics Technology Alliance Partners (ETAPs), OEMs and vertical-market solution providers can employ the company's control software which is designed to identify, track, secure and manage enterprise-wide virtual machines, according to the company.

"The need to utilize server virtualization in IT environments is growing more pressing by the day," said David M. Lynch, vice president of marketing. "We help our channels understand the technology and are fully committed to providing stellar customer support, which means a lot more service revenue for our resellers."

The Ottawa-based firm provides services such as certification and co-marketing. Embotics' EVAR program is a multi-tier reseller program for partners that provide virtualization consulting and support services. The company said that EVARs can expand their solutions with its technology and receive discounts, leads, sales and technical training, as well as marketing and sales support.

The company offers several products to tackle virtual sprawl, such as its lifecycle management solution V-Commander, which aims to reduce risks in virtual servers by providing policy-based management and control, automation and operational oversight.

Privately-held Embotics was founded in 2006. Founder, president and CEO Jay Litkey also founded tech firm Symbium, launched in 2002. The company was a provider of products for autonomic computing and automated management of IT infrastructure. Symbium was funded by equity investors Toronto-based Tera Capital, MMV Financial, also in Toronto and undisclosed private investors. Tera Capital is also an investor in Embotics.

Embotics acquired the development team and technology of Symbium, using its resources for virtual server management. Prior to his role at Symbium, Litkey was CEO of BlackholeVDN/Blackhole TV, an Internet-based, public video content aggregation and distribution company, and was a senior software designer at Nortel Networks.
