When analyzing first-half deals that actually closed, HP also rules the roost in network color lasers for SMBs -- it claimed 32.9 percent of all network color laser dollars spent in deals closed from January 1 to June 30, 2008.

Xerox again had a larger average size transaction -- $14,300 --than either HP ($9,500) or Dell ($9,200) -- but the largest average size of transaction belonged to Lexmark.

At Xerox's annual investor conference in New York this month, CEO and chairman Anne Mulcahy repeatedly emphasized making sure all of Xerox's channels -- direct or indirect, agent, reseller, or otherwise -- work in some degree of harmony to get end users the Xerox products they want by preferable means. Xerox solution providers have told Everything Channel throughout the year that they definitely feel like a key part of Xerox's vision.

"They're definitely putting resources into the channel and providing us with the tools we need," said Kevin Morse, senior partner at Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based solution provider Questing Hound Technology Partners. "They allow us to open up a lot of opportunities."
