In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the invention of the integrated circuit by Jack S. Kilby and Robert Noyce, the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation's 2009 class being honored May 2 is made up entirely of 15 innovators who pioneered advances related to integrated circuit processes and technologies. To further mark the occasion, the NIHFF will hold its Induction Ceremony Gala in Silicon Valley for the first time, and will honor former Intel chairman and CEO Andy Grove with its Lifetime Achievement Award, an accolade honoring significant contributions to invention and to the American system of intellectual property protection.
