Intel's global investment organization has invested $10 million in four U.S.-based green technology start-ups and a fifth in Ireland, the company said Wednesday at
the Intel Technology Summit in San Francisco.
"Intel Capital has made a significant commitment to invest in the 'cleantech' sector in recognition of the increasing need for alternative energy production and advanced energy management and utilization solutions," said Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital, in a statement.
Start-ups receiving funding from Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel include:
New York-based CPower, a provider of targeted energy management services and solutions for businesses that is receiving its first round of funding from Intel Capital.
San Francisco-based Grid Net, a developer of a network operating system and management control plane for the Smart Grid that is in its third round of funding.
Limerick, Ireland-based Powervation, a developer of digital power controllers for server, desktop computing and communications platforms that deliver capabilities in automatic configuration and self stabilization, currently the recipient of a second investment from Intel Capital.
Richardson, Texas-based Convey Computer, an integrator of energy-efficient high-performance computing (HPC) systems in its second round of funding.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based iControl, builder of an IP-based home monitoring, energy management and security platform for security and broadband providers, receiving a second investment from Intel Capital.
