Targeting the custom installation market, Epson America Tuesday rolled out two native 1080p 3LCD home theater projectors, the PowerLite Pro Cinema 9100 and 9500 UB.

Both models have certain features in common, such as Epson's Cinema Filter for larger color space for improved color fidelity, and Fujinon OptiCinema Multi-Lens Optics System to project clean images across the screen.

The projectors also use E-TORL (Epson Twin Optics Reflection Lamp) for light uniformity and increased output for screens that are larger than 10 feet diagonally. Epson's proprietary 200-watt, high-efficiency design aims to save on energy, and provide up to 4,000 hours of lamp life. Both models also include a spare lamp to cut down on replacing expensive bulbs.

The company's flagship model, the Pro Cinema 9500 UB combines Epson's C2Fine and UltraBlack technology with 3LCD and D7 technology for sharper black levels and vivid images. It also has a dual-layered auto iris to control light-reduction rates more effectively, which contributes to a contrast ratio of up to 200,000:1, and has a brightness of 1,600 lumens color and white light output. The Pro Cinema 9500 UB retails for less than $4,000.

The Pro Cinema 9100 includes ISF Day and Night modes for switching between picture modes and lamp output, and Epson's Color Isolation system for fine-tuning color saturation and hue without needing blue and red optical filters. The projector has a contrast ratio of up to 36,000:1 and brightness of 1,800 lumens color and white light output. The projector has a $2,599 price tag.

"Epson understands the needs of the custom installation channel and is committed to providing high-quality products that meet the needs of dealers in today's competitive market," said Marge Ang, senior product manager, in a statement. "These latest Pro Cinema projectors have been packed with a range of value-add features and technology refinements that allow custom installers to build a customized high-performance, home entertainment system."
