Firefox 1.5 has been downloaded more than 20 million times since its late November release, Mozilla Corp. announced Tuesday.

The open-source browser, which has between nine and ten percent of the Web market, has also been localized for 35 different languages since its debut less than two months ago, the Mountain View, Calif.-based developer said.

Firefox 1.5 can be downloaded from the Mozilla site in versions for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

The next version, characterized as a minor update and labeled Firefox 1.5.0.1, is slated for release before the end of the month, notes from a recent Mozilla.org staff meeting indicate. Future security and "minor polish" updates will be rolled out every two months, the notes said.

In other Firefox news, America Online updated its AOL Toolbar for Firefox last week to Beta 2, the ISP and Web portal provider said, with bug fixes, a redesigned Settings dialog, and interface updates. The toolbar, which is available for Windows and Mac OS X, provides single-click access to AOL's services and features. The toolbar can be downloaded from here.
