Mapics Inc. strengthened both its reseller channel and partner offerings for its manufacturing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

The Atlanta-based company launched a partner program and integration product for resellers at its recent users conference in Orlando, Fla. Linked 2 Mapics helps third-party software vendors develop custom products to extend the Mapics XA flagship software suite. "This program creates a win-win situation for both parties," said Mike Sutton, vice president and general manager of Mapics, Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. "It gives the partners a tremendous window to showcase what they can do."

Mapics XA manufacturing ERP focuses on various vertical markets and currently provides more than 40 modules that divide into six business areas, including financial management, resource planning and engineering management.

The program provides a "shop window" for resellers to use the rest of the Mapics suite to sell software, said Sutton.

Program participant Information Systems Engineering Inc., Oconomowoc, Wis., will provide internal shop-floor applications for manufacturing enterprises.

Information Systems Engineering's software, Manufacturing Execution System, interfaces with the Mapics suite and handles labor data, material handling, quality reporting and electronic scheduling.

"All the tests that are performed to maintain quality standards are maintained on this software," said John Van Kempen, Information Systems Engineering president.

"We are pleased with the Mapics program," said Van Kempen. "We think resellers will have greater incentive with new products like ours linking to Mapics."

Mapics is shipping Mapics Integrator, which lets users link enterprise applications to one client architecture and interface.
