ASP GroupServe Finds Niche In Collaboration Market

While the collaboration software market is well-occupied by the likes of Lotus Development and Microsoft, GroupServe President Tom Stroup says the ASP is addressing areas the giants have ignored, such as wireless-enabled collaboration and team collaboration outside of the firewall.

"GroupServe's offering is unique in that it is Web-based and designed to help interactions between enterprises as opposed to internally, which is a hole for Exchange and Notes," says Dave Nelson, senior analyst with Giga Information Group.

The offering supports wireless technologies such as WAP-enabled phones and PDAs, allowing participants to add comments to live or documented chat sessions.

GroupServe has 700 customers and recently signed a deal to have the service resold by Lucent Technologies and Glenayre Technologies, which is integrating the product with a two-way wireless messaging module.
