From the August 28, 2001 issue of VARBusiness
On Wednesday, Amazon.com is expected to announce an enhanced partnership with distributor Ingram Micro and an exclusive arrangement with Ingram's logistics division, IM Logistics, for the fulfillment of Amazon.com's CPU sales.

Amazon is already an e-tail customer of , Santa Ana, Calif.-based Ingram Micro. Under the terms of this new agreement, however, Amazon is expected to say that IM Logistics will exclusively fulfill Amazon.com's desktop, notebook and related accessory sales, handling all the logistical pick, pack and ship functions on behalf of the e-tailer.

While the exclusive nature of the fulfillment agreement will not restrict Amazon.com from purchasing its CPU wares elsewhere, the expectation is that it will also source solely from Ingram Micro as a matter of convenience.

At this time, both the volume expectation and potential dollar value of the agreement are unknown. VARBusiness will bring you more details on this announcement as they become available.
