Microsoft's Business Applications Group launched an enhanced version of its Apertum financial software for the German, Austrian and Swiss midmarket at CeBit here on Wednesday.

Apertum 4.0, scheduled to ship next month, was retrofitted with a Microsoft interface and look and feel. It also includes integration with Microsoft Excel and MapPoint, executives said.

Microsoft said version 4.0 also offers a reduced installation time of more than 50 percent, as well as enhanced customization capabilities, an improved production module and an integrated multilanguage module.

Apertum is the former Great Plains' financial and business management solution that Microsoft acquired in January 2000.
