Hosting automation company Ensim has released two new control panels that enable service providers to offer user-level spam filtering.

The products, dubbed Ensim Pro and Ensim Basic, are the latest iterations in the company's WEBppliance Pro and Basic lines, products designed to help solution providers build and manage automated hosting businesses.

Both of the new products will be sold through Ensim's channel program.

Steve Dauber, vice president of marketing at the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based firm, said that prior to products like these, control panels imposed global spam settings that may not have been applicable to every user, resulting in legitimate e-mails being classified incorrectly as spam.

"With the huge amount of spam that is distributed today, users are demanding e-mail hosting that gives them control over what e-mails they receive," Dauber said. "[Our tools] enable hosting service providers and Webmasters to offer this capability."

In addition to offering user-level spam control, the new products also feature functionalities such as server-level virus scanning and support of Fedora Linux. What's more, both products run on unmodified standard Linux applications such as Apache, PHP, MySQL, PERL and ProFTP, enabling hosting service providers to use newer hardware without enduring compatibility issues.

Ensim Basic was expected to retail for $149, while Ensim Pro was slated to sell for $199.

Dauber said that current WEBppliance Basic customers can upgrade to Ensim Basic at no charge, but noted that current WEBppliance Pro customers who want to graduate to the new products would have to purchase an upgrade to the WEBppliance product before receiving their free Ensim Pro update.
