Sterling Commerce rolled out a new support program Monday for distributors, resellers and referral partners.

Called the Global Partner Program, partners gain access to a personalized, password-protected Web site that provides training, a technical support knowledge base and marketing materials.

Sterling, a subsidiary of SBC Communications, also established a partner advisory council.

Basic participation in the program requires partners to make a minimal investment in development software to receive discounts or royalties on Sterling solutions and to gain access to customer support and educational resources, said the company.

The program designations range from bronze to platinum, with benefits varying from joint business planning and discounts on e-business consulting services.

In the future, Sterling said it plans to add co-op marketing opportunities and a formalized 90-day implementation process guide for partners.
