IBM Corp. announced this morning that Comdisco Inc., a $4.2 billion provider of disaster recovery, Internet services, venture capital and high-speed digital networks in Rosemont, Ill., will purchase 14 IBM S/390 G6 enterprise servers. The purchase, worth $30 million to IBM, will increase Comdisco's processing power by 450 percent in North America.

Billed as an "e-business server," IBM's S/390 reputation is gaining momentum for its flexibility, capacity and performance. Because Comdisco provides continuous availability and global recovery solutions to help customers avoid business interruptions, the new servers will not only support its overall services availability, but will also provide standby systems that can replicate its customers' computing environments in the event of a disaster or other emergency.
