IBM and BroadVision today announced an agreement today that will supply e-business software for IBM servers.

The new partnership will enable IBM to integrate BroadVision's full suite of One-To-One applications on its performance-leading RS/6000 servers with copper technology. In addition, IBM Global Services will create a practice of service professionals around the world to help customers implement BroadVision applications. The alliance is designed to allow IBM customers to leverage BroadVision's e-business applications for a wide range of B2B and B2C needs.

"We're very excited about this new relationship with IBM," Dr. Pehong Chen, president and CEO of BroadVision, said today in a press statement. "The joint enterprise e-business solution allows us to take the richness of BroadVision's functionality to IBM's fast-growing RS/6000 server platform. With this agreement, BroadVision extends its global reach and answers the e-business needs of many global enterprises."

Products to be ported to IBM's AIX operating system include BroadVision's One-To-One Enterprise e-CRM platform and One-To-One suite of e-business applications. The companies will jointly integrate the BroadVision application suite with IBM's DB2 data management software.

In addition, BroadVision and IBM will work to integrate the solutions with IBM WebSphere for Enterprise Java Beans integration with back-end systems. BroadVision has also signed IBM Global Services, the world's largest information technology services provider, as a systems integration partner.

This is the second major e-business alliance IBM has formed with an e-business software maker in less than two months. In August, IBM announced a partnership with Vignette. The alliance integrated Vignette's V/5 E-business applications with IBM's WebSphere e-business platform.

There's been a lot of talk about the payback from energy and power-consumption savings. But there have been few solution providers, vendors or distributors that have made the leap from plain talk to a no-holds-barred green sales strategy. That is until now.
