Do you have your passport yet? I know many of my frequent contacts don't have much to do with business outside the United States, but there's plenty going on.

The same week that the CMP Channel Group hosted its first European XChange event in Budapest, Alan Weinberger of the ASCII Group popped up recently to tell me that the organization has become a founding member of the new International Technology Channels Association (ITCA), which bills itself as an "international communication platform" for distributors, resellers, service providers and vendors.

The founding organizations come from the United States, Europe and India and include ASCII, Synaxon AG from Germany (which includes Akcent, ITeam, Microtrend and PC-Spezialist), the Professional Computing Association from the United Kingdom and CBC Amba from Denmark. ITCA is working with GlobalUp, which is an international partnership initiative.

The organization figures that the founding groups represent the interests of approximately 6,500 solution providers.

Here's an article that the UK edition of CRN wrote about the association.

What do you think of the idea? E-mail me about this or other channel business issues at hclancy@cmp.com.
