Zahl started last week and is responsible for some of Ingram Micro's largest and highest-profile vendor relationships, including Hewlett-Packard, IBM, EMC, Intel, AMD, Lexmark, Viewsonic and Samsung.
He started with the Santa Ana, Calif.-based distributor March 12 and attended Ingram Micro's VentureTech Network in Nashville last week.
He worked at Access Distribution for 16 years, through its Access Graphics and GE Access name changes. He was most recently vice president of emerging technologies, a position he held since August 2006 when the Emerging Technologies division was created.
Prior to that, he was vice in charge of Access's Sun Microsystems relationship, its most important vendor.
He leaves Access four months after the Westminster, Colo.-based company was sold to Avnet by General Electric for $410 million.
Zahl will report to Brian Wiser, senior vice president of sales and vendor management, Ingram Micro North America.
"After years of working within the enterprise business, it will be great to get involved in the multiple routes to market Ingram Micro offers, Zahl said in a statement.
"I am looking forward to applying my knowledge and experience to a whole new segment. Ingram Micro has a great manufacturer line-up and I am eager to get involved and work with my team to grow and expand our solutions portfolio, and build stronger relationships across the board," he said.
