Brown Out, Arafeh In As eEye CEO

Ross Brown

Kamal Arafeh, eEye's vice president of sales, will take over as CEO at the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based vendor effective immediately, according to the spokesperson, who declined further comment.

Brown, who joined eEye in 2005 as COO, took over as CEO in June. Within weeks of joining, Brown made partner friendly changes to the vendor's deal registration program and helped eEye ink a distribution deal with Alternative Technology in order to recruit new solution provider partners.

Brown could not be reached for comment.

During a three year stint as vice-president of worldwide sales and channel operations at Citrix Systems, Brown reinvigorated the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based vendor's channel program by expanding rebate and incentive programs and boosting rewards for top resellers.

Previously, Brown held sales and marketing positions at MSI Consulting Group, Network Associates, IBM and Tech Data.

Since joining eEye last September, Arafeh has been responsible for the vendor's global sales and marketing operations as well as its channel program.

Harry Dykeman, vice president of sales at JDM Infrastructure, a Rosemont, Ill.-based solution provider, recalls the strong channel leadership Arafeh exhibited during his days at Astaro.

"They were the channel evangelists. They just kept working on the program, and stayed with the plan to become a strong channel player until they ironed out the issues and got it right," said Dykeman.

Prior to joining eEye, Arafeh was vice President of sales and marketing for the Americas and Asia Pacific at Astaro. He has previously also held sales and marketing positions at Vernier Networks, McAfee/Network Associates and Texas Instruments.

Arafeh is also a venture partner at Boston-based VC firm OpenView Ventures.
