Westcon Group is adding mesh network vendor Firetide to its product line card.

The Tarrytown, N.Y.-based distributor said it will offer its North American reseller customers Firetide's line of secure wireless mesh solutions, which enable high-bandwidth support for voice, video, mobility and surveillance applications. Westcon already offered Firetide's products in Asia through Comstor Singapore.

Jorge Reyes, president and CEO of Stratus Technologies Group, a Miami-based solution provider, said in a statement that the relationship will be good for VARs.

"The opportunities in wireless mesh technology are only increasing, as our customers now require more high-bandwidth, secure wireless solutions than ever before. The strength of Firetide's products, combined with the additional value Westcon Group brings with its solutions programs and logistics expertise, will help us capitalize on these opportunities," Reyes said.

The Firetide products will enable Westcon to offer customers a secure mobility infrastructure for deploying IP devices such as cameras, barcode scanners, phones and RFID devices, according to Anthony Daley, executive vice president of the Americas at Westcon Group.

"When combined with our other solutions, Firetide's products can be a powerful catalyst toward achieving converged mobility," Daley said in a statement.
