NYC Seniors Vie For Tech Scholarship

Bluewolf, a New York-based on-demand enterprise software consulting company, today announced a college scholarship program for New York City public high school students who are interested in pursuing a degree in technology-related fields. The Bluewolf Technology Scholarship is a four-year scholarship with an annual award of $2,000 to be used for tuition at an accredited college or university of the student's choice. With $17 million in annual revenue, Bluewolf ranked #59 on CRN's Fast Growth companies for 2007.

"We are at a point in time when companies big and small need to invest in our kids, especially the ones interested in technology. Too much of our brainpower is being shipped overseas and eventually, this will limit the ability of the U.S. to compete," said Michael Kirven, cofounder and principal of Bluewolf. "Our scholarship is a small effort by Bluewolf to reward kids that want to build a career in the innovative field of technology."

Kirven has also been tapped serve as a member on the Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education. The council is designed to assist the Department of Education in providing all students with relevant and meaningful programs to acquire high-level academic and workforce preparation skills.

"I will be working with the advisory council to help develop curriculum and bridge the gap between public education and the extensive resources of private industry," said Kirven. "We will work not only to work with the kids, but help advise and educate teachers and administrators on trends in technology. "

New York City public high school seniors participating in the Virtual Enterprises International Program of the New York City Department of Education (www.veinternational.org) are eligible to apply for the Bluewolf Technology Scholarship. Applications are due Dec. 10, 2007. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee.
