Arrow's Mike Long Promoted to President, COO

Mike Long, a 17-year veteran of Arrow Electronics, has been named president and COO of the Melville, N.Y.-based distributor.

The company's board of directors also announced that Long has been named to its board of directors. Long will continue to report to William Mitchell, chairman and CEO and be responsible for all operations.

Long is a well-known channel veteran, having spent much of his career running Arrow's Enterprise Computing Solutions group. Prior to this promotion, he was overseeing Arrow's Global Components group, which accounted for $11.2 billion of the company's $16 billion in sales in 2007.

"Mike has proven his abilities and delivered on the strategic objectives of the company," Mitchell said in a statement. "He has an exceptional track record as an operating executive, has been a powerful contributor to Arrow's growth agenda and has demonstrated his ability to lead global management teams."

Long joined Arrow in 1991 after it acquired Schweber Electronics, where he had held several roles. In 1994, he named president of of Capstone Electronics, an Arrow company, and a year later he was appointed president of Gates/Arrow Distributing. Long then served as president and COO of Arrow North American Computer Products, now Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions), and next as president of the company's North America and Asia-Pacific components business.

"Arrow is a great company with a tremendous future and significant growth opportunities," said Long in a statement. "I am proud of this recognition and I look forward to working with our experienced and capable leadership team to deliver value to our customers, suppliers, and all of our stakeholders around the world."
