Jeff Jarvis poses this question:

Obama has said that if (and when) is he elected, he'll appoint a chief technical officer of government. Just wondering: Who would make a great U.S. CTO? And why?

Well, that certainly leaves it wide open. Would a few other questions help narrow it down?

- Should he or she be a Mac person, a Windows person or a Linux person?

- Should he or she be a cost-cutter or a big spender?

- Tech-industry veteran, or McKinsey & Company type?

Any president who appoints a CTO could either make a brilliant decision, or a decision that is, well, not so brilliant.

Who would you name to be the country's CTO, if you could?
