Two distributors announced new senior executives Monday.

Westcon Group named Dean Douglas as its new COO, according to $3 billion Tarrytown, N.Y.-based Westcon Group. Meanwhile, Ingram Micro announced the promotion of Mark Snider to vice president and general manager of its Canada operations.

Douglas most recently was CEO of LLC International, a wireless engineering professional services firm, and he previously held global senior executive roles at IBM and Motorola.

"Dean is joining Westcon's executive management team at a time of tremendous opportunity in IT markets. His management insight, experience and integrity will help Westcon extend its leadership position to an even greater degree and on a truly global scale," said Tom Dolan, president and CEO of Westcon Group, in a statement.

During his tenure at Motorola, Douglas developed new businesses in wireless data services and IP professional services, according to Westcon Group. While at IBM, he served as vice president of its Telecommunications Industry sector.

The COO position at Westcon Group has not been filled for several years, according to the company.

For Ingram Micro, Snider previously served as general manager of partner development for Ingram Micro Canada.

"Mark has done an outstanding job of driving profitable growth throughout our Canadian operations and building sustainable efficiencies within our sales, marketing and vendor management teams," said Keith Bradley, executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America, in a statement. "The strong leadership of our executive team is critical to our continued growth in Canada and will serve to expand the business by strengthening our partnerships, increasing our value and further positioning us to execute against our strategic North American business initiatives."

Snider reports directly to Keith Bradley and Brian Wiser, senior vice president of sales and vendor management, Ingram Micro North America.
