VAR Dimension Data Buys Teksys

Only a few months ago, Teksys was telling customers it was gearing up to expand its business by making acquisitions. Indeed, it bought the assets of Technology Made Simple last September. In a turn of events this week, Dimension Data, (2008 VARBusiness 500 rank No. 24) said it would acquire Teksys, a Microsoft Gold-certified partner, for an undisclosed sum.

Teksys, a Microsoft infrastructure and licensing services company based in the United Kingdom, is certified in Advanced Infrastructure, Networking Infrastructure, Information Worker, Licensing, Security and Mobility. Teksys will become a wholly owned Dimension Data subsidiary, similar to Dimension Data's other subsidiaries worldwide. Dimension Data's U.K. Microsoft Solutions business and the 81 employees from Teksys will operate as one unit.

"When Dimension Data launched its Microsoft services business three years ago, the Group's objective was to expand its capabilities and footprint in the Microsoft infrastructure space," Steve Joubert, Group Executive, Solutions at Dimension Data said. "The Teksys transaction is aligned with this objective and provides both companies with significant benefits, particularly in their consulting skills base and licensing capability."

The deal will help Dimension Data provide its U.K. clients with new services around virtualization, data center design, software asset management, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, as well as a number of Microsoft's unified communications technologies and systems management.
