Acer Lifts Curtain On Two More Aspire Notebooks

Earlier this month, Acer rolled out more than 20 new products across all of its brands, including Packard Bell, Gateway and eMachines. The product refresh included small desktop PCs, known as nettops, as well as netbooks and notebooks.
But Acer out, hinting at but not providing details around its Aspire notebook and Gemstone lines until today. Both notebooks have evolved, with the Aspire getting a fashion makeover and the Gemstone getting beefed-up multimedia capabilities.
The Acer Aspire 3935-6504 is built with a trim profile, complete with a frameless CineCrystal LED display measuring 13.1 inches that is housed in a brushed chassis that is less than 1 inch thick. An Intel Core 2 Duo processor powers the machine, and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD delivers HD imagery. For quick work, the Aspire notebook has 3 GB of memory and information is stored on the 250-GB SATA hard drive. A multigesture touch pad gets paired with a fingerprint scanner for easy navigation and security. A four-cell Li-ion battery is standard, rounding out the overall weight of the Aspire 3935 notebook at 4.18 pounds.
Sticking to its pledge to deliver PCs at what it considers to be mainstream prices, the Acer Aspire 3935-6504 notebook begins at $899.99. It comes preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1.
The specs on the Acer Aspire 8935G Gemstone notebook are beefy, and that includes the size and weight of the machine.
An Intel Core 2 Duo processor is accompanied by up to 4 GB of DDR3 memory. The Gemstone can also hold a lot of information, with up to 500 GB of storage that can be expanded to 1 TB by equipping the notebook with dual hard drives.
The Aspire Gemstone is targeted at users who work with multimedia applications or consume a lot of multimedia content. The notebook is built with an 18.4-inch HD CineCrystal wide-screen 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display and a 16:9 aspect ratio, all of which achieves playback in 1,080p format. Graphics are powered by the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 desktop graphics display, which Acer ported to its Gemstone notebook.
The Gemstone is built with an eight-cell Li-ion battery and tips the scales at a hefty 10.1 pounds.
The Aspire Gemstone will be available to customers in June but pricing has not been released.
