The Gateway LT2000 netbook is the latest update to the computer maker's line of consumer products and its second netbook. Gateway in April rolled out a new line of notebooks and netbooks that included a preview of Gateway's LT Series netbooks. The first model, Gateway's 11.6-inch LT3100, began shipping in June. Gateway's parent company, Acer, also makes the popular Aspire One line of netbooks.
The Gateway LT2000 is a 10.1-inch netbook that tips the scales at just 2.62 pounds and is available in NightSky Black and Cherry Red. The 10.1-inch WSVGA 16:9 ratio TFT LCD screen offers 1024 x 600 resolution.
The hardware specifications on the LT2000 are similar to other netbooks on the market. The Gateway netbook is powered by a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and has 1 GB of memory. Storage is handled by a 160-GB hard drive. Intel also handles the graphics with the Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
The Gateway netbook is 802.11b/g wireless connectivity. The LT2000 comes with three built-in USB 2.0 ports, a 3-cell Lithium-ion battery a multi-in-one digital media card reader.
"The new sleek Gateway LT2000 netbooks let customers do more with their time on the go -- from enjoying the Internet to video chatting and staying in touch via e-mail and social networks," Ray Sawall, senior product marketing manager for Gateway, said in a statement. The latest netbook from Gateway comes preloaded with Microsoft Windows XP Home, Service Pack 3. The LT2000, however, also has native multitouch touchpad capabilities built-in, perhaps in anticipation of Microsoft's release of Windows 7 this fall.
The price tag on the Gateway LT2000 starts at $299.99 and the netbook is available for purchase now.
