Leaked Verizon Road Map Screams Android, Android, Android

Boy Genius Report (BGR) on Monday posted what it says is exclusive information on Verizon's upcoming product road map sent to it from a Verizon Wireless source. Here's a quick rundown of the highlights, according to BGR:

1. More Android Phones: Verizon is already the carrier for some of the year's hottest Google Android-based smartphones. According to the information provided by BGR, however, it's just getting warmed up, and several more Android phones -- including global devices manufactured by HTC and Samsung -- are on the way.

2. More Droids: Verizon's had hits with Motorola's Droid and its just-released Droid X, and there are plenty of rumors that Droid 2 -- the more powerful sequel to the original Droid -- will launch sometime this week. But consider BGR's first full mention of a Motorola Droid Pro, which is said to have a 1.3GHz processor, a 4-inch screen and global roaming capabilities. BGR writes that a November 2010 launch is planned, meaning that neither Verizon nor Motorola is planning to slow down Android efforts before the end of the year.

3. Android Tablets?: BGR reports that Motorola and Verizon are extending their Droid partnership to include a "slam form factor" device that'll feature a full touch screen and run Android 2.2. Is it a tablet or a smartphone? Details are too scant to tell what it might be. Samsung, on the other hand, reports BGR, definitely has an Android tablet on the way (a 7-inch screen model), and Motorola probably does, too (with a 10-inch screen).

4. LTE Nation: Verizon's support for Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G services is no secret, but according to BGR, Verizon is on track to have about 75 percent of the U.S. ready for LTE by 2012. Data plan pricing for LTE devices is expected to be about $59.99, though BGR's report doesn't suggest to what devices that number refers.

5. No iPhone?: Verizon iPhone rumors have a way of sticking around, and thanks to an SEC filing by AT&T and reports that Apple has millions of CDMA chipsets in the pipeline, they're heating up yet again. Still, BGR notes, iPhone doesn't get a mention as a key piece of the Verizon road map it obtained. Doesn't mean no Verizon iPhone, just means an incomplete report, or Verizon's keeping a lid on this one pretty darn tightly.
