Version3 Simple Sign-On is an identity-driven application access management system that promises to simplify the use of applications across the network.

It uses the same tools for managing Active Directory itself, the Active Directory Application Module (ADAM), Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS), and Windows Server Systems offerings including Content Management Server, Exchange Server etc, according to the Columbia, S.C.-based company.

"We take the gap that Microsoft leaves and fill it," said Version3 president Andy Sakalian.

VARs and integrators can make money reselling the product and also in customizing it for implementation, he noted. "Someone needs to build scripts for all those applications you want to log into. We're not doing all that. The other opportunity is fixing all the Active Directories out there that are broken," he said.

The system can store user credentials in Active Directory for automatic logons. And it offers the option for self-delegated and delegated administration. It can also monitor and respond to user-initiated desktop applications.

The software, available now, will be on display this week at the Microsoft Momentum Worldwide Partner Conference. It costs $49 per user.
