SOA Software Buys Blue Titan
Based in Los Angeles, SOA Software sells an assortment of SOA infrastructure components. Adding Blue Titan brings expertise in open, standards-based messaging technology that supports a wide range of heterogeneous implementations, SOA Software said in a statement outlining the deal. Blue Titan founder Frank Martinez plans to remain with SOA Software as the company's executive vice president of product strategy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Blue Titan, based in San Francisco, makes software that enables Web services networking, handling infrastructure tasks like message routing and delivery, authentication, and monitoring. Its flagship Network Director product is used by clients including Pfizer, Yahoo and British American Tobacco.
SOA Software changed its name last year from Digital Evolution to emphasize its focus on services-oriented architecture (SOA) technology -- and to take advantage of the raging buzzword popularity of the term "SOA," which refers to a methodology for connecting software components through standards-based services in order to ease IT integration.
Backed by around $30 million in venture capital, SOA Software is privately held. Its acquisitions include a mainframe Web services development and deployment platform from Merrill Lynch, event-based messaging technology maker ThoughtDigital, and network infrastructure developer Flamenco Networks.
